**** my luck, i though i had perfect unit.

I thought my screen protector had spec of dust in it while using in white background. After careful inspection it looks like the Mini-led might be dead or faulty cause off angle it looks like this:

Called Apple and they are sending in mail-in box right now.

Are they sending you a replacement?
I have to send it to Apple for inspection.

But most likely yes. The customer service "didn't know" because it was up to the service guys to decide what to do. Ether change the screen or new unit.

Yikes. Don't they offer express replacement for iPad? Hope they can send you a brand new one!

My SG 12.9 M1 had a dead pixel. Luckily I noticed it on the last day of my return window.

They do for AC+ (i have it), but in that case you have to pay the 49€ fee.

+ 800€ something euro that you do send the other device + it takes 1 incident out of the 12 month period.

I know this feeling. You take a quick glance and you think you got a perfect unit, you get on your knees and thank sweet baby Jesus, and the next day you're scrolling something with the white background and your heart stops. You see a flaw, You grab a cloth to wipe it off but it won't go away. Depression hits.

This is why I got a pure white image and a pure black image in my photo gallery. I'll spend 5 mins just looking around the screen for flaws. Don't wanna find it after my return window closes. Maybe I'm crazy but at this price, I want a perfect display. Otherwise, I'd buy an iPad 8th gen or Android tablet.

Hope it works out for you.

No, it shouldn't. At least in the US, the $49 fee is only for accidental damage. We just did express replacement for an iPhone 11 with faulty SIM and didn't have to pay anything.

They will require a hold on your credit card for the full price of the device, but they will release the hold when they get your old device back.

I think they dont have yet refurbished ones. They have hard time filling the even the “new” ones.

But honestly, i dont mind. Apple refurbished are done in factory and as we all know, even the “brand new” ones aren’t perfect at all. Far from it. (My luck has been dust under camera lens, compass not working in S4 watch, defect AirPods Pro etc.)

All of these has been far from perfect and they were brand new ones. I’m going to inspect the replacement one under microscope and if it’s perfect one. I really don’t care if it’s “new” or “refurbished” if it is flawless.

And yes if i did notice this within 14 days I could have returned it.

The actual problem with this is that new orders (in here) are going to be delivered in mid-late July.

With apple ether A) I’m going to be put at the front of the que or B) they have different line for replacement ones (going to suspect B is more likely)

I had a m1 12.9 replaced for a problem As well. They shipped it out to me and it arrived in 4 days. Brand mew in sealed box. It was a 1tb model. Willing to bet they have a different stick To pull from in situations like this like you said.

Yeah Apple service rep is handling the situation.

I told them A) I can send it back again (I told her i can literally tape around the problem area with scotch tape so the service guy will find the problem) or B) I can pay for 49€ AP+ change.

Ether way i'm getting this one replaced. I did send them the photo evidence and she told me that they did have the pictures and also the measurements where to find the issue ? Apparently this wasn't enough.

Update: Paid 1500€ for express replacement. Sending out new one and if they don't find any issues with it this time, i will just pay the 49-55€ for the AC+ replacement.

Something similiar happened with me and my Airpods Pro. They debited me for a replacement pair and did not send my money back. Took them 2 months of calls and angry mails, even tho one rep told me he "setup the replacement wrong". I pretty much forced them to repay me the money + the same amount of money on their store for free to choose what I wanted. I got it. You should try something similar, but with less money. Unacceptable.

Yeah i don't think they are willing to give me 1500€ worth of store credit :D
Yes this is absolutely frustrating, not even stressing about it any more. Just overly disappointed how things have went.

Let's see how this turns out.

Not worth stressing about, it is frustrating but worse things happen at sea!

My wife had an issue with an iPhone a few years ago - the battery was draining very fast so we booked a battery replacement at the store. A good 30 min drive each way, got there - they checked it and said "yes it is the battery but we have none - just given the last one out - you need to book another visit" Came back a week later, they replaced it, got home - it wouldn't charge past 1%, back we went, replaced that unit, got home - making a rattle, back we go and it's a loose battery. Another new unit.

They did recognise they had not been great and dropped the charge for the battery.

And to add insult to injury, heres the box it came in and heres the picture of the e-sim side. Lower left is the part where the e-sim side was located, it's not huge but with naked eye you can see that the ipad is bent more in e-sim side than the other one.

What in the world is wrong with their quality control?! This is unacceptable!
Yeah thinking the same thing.

My 1st device got picked up today by UPS, when they process that one and release the 1500€, i can start second one with this second unit

I tried to tap the screen to see if the dust particle moves, it wont budge.

Also the bending is (imo) related to UPS throwing their express shipment around in the airplane(s). One lucky throw and this is the result. But that part is on between UPS and Apple.
