i passed down my 2018 MBP to a family member, now i'm going to stick with my ipad pro 12.9 (M1) as my laptop replacement at home. i already installed O365 on it, basically just some light duty workload. i do sometimes attend IT classes offered from work, during which i would need my laptop to RDP into other machine, does ipad has the capability of that? I guess if it's a web based emulation, i can do that in Safari?

anyone here using their IPP as laptop extensively? can you share your experiences? thanks.

I’ve actually been using my IPP extensively in the last two weeks for work. I do RDP using Jump Desktop for the few things that are easier on a Mac. So if I didn’t have that option, then using the IPP would be unworkable. But with Jump Desktop, I haven’t actually touched my MacBook in the past two weeks. It’s worked great.

And, at least for what I do, I need only get on Jump Desktop about 5% of the time.

Regarding RDP, yes you can do it with some limitation. Back when the original iPad came out the company I worked for trialled iPads with RDP & virtual PC’s, for quick access it’s great but depending on what you’re doing it’s not a laptop replacement.
