I have had an Ipad Pro 13 M2 128 GB since November 2022. Last week the USB C port just suddenly went bad. Will not charge (only occasionally), can not connect it to computer or monitor etc. I was offered to use the exchange programme and buy a replacement for 1000 EUR + ... How common is it for the USB-C port to break on the iPad Pro? I was actually using iPad very rarely, charging it maybe once a week or even less frequently. I'm surprised that something like this happens so quickly with such an expensive device.

It certainly is not a common theme amongst posters here but of course as the sole port, it will be a big issue of course. You could try your local consumer law if that applies to your country, but outside of that, not sure what could be done.

I've had it happen to 3 of my iPad Pros now. My 2018 11", my 2020 11" and now just recently it's replacement (the replaced it under Apple Care but now it has expired). My "workaround" is that I have a iPad Magic Keyboard and can charge through it. In all my dozens of lightning products I NEVER had a port stop working for me. Cables sure, but not the port. I believe that is because the more delicate part of USB-C connections are on the port rather than the cable.

I had same issue with a 12.9 2020 refurb model after just 2 months use , Apple swapped it out for another refurb and no problems since, but yes, it does happen. Apple staff said that the USB was not as good or as reliable as lightning!

I've got an 11" M2 Pro and the USB-C is not very reliable. Or that's what I thought and got worried I had a broken iPad on my hands.

Turned out the problem is the Apple USB-C cables for me. The Anker ones I've had zero problems with.
