I’m looking for a reputable place to get an iPad pro 2015, 12.9’. Yes I know I could buy one on eBay but confirmed reports of scammers putting extra modules in to steal data, and personal experience with such, mean I’m never ever buying another used iPad unless I have a non-scammer seller to use. Why that model? I’ve had 9 or 10 iPads. That one is my favorite model.

My 5 cent is that if you are interested in having a secure device don't get an old one that won't have any security updates released to the dated OS it will be running.

Sorry I am not aware of a more reputable place than third party private sellers for a nine year old iPad.

Oh and I’d like to see a few confirmed reports on this scammer topic please OP. Please link to some reputable sources.

I had this iPads for 6 years since launch, great device, sold it a couple of years ago. Personally I consider security a non-issue on iPads, some people don't feel comfortable, but if you do, don't let anyone scare you.
I personally would only buy this locally, at a second hand shop or local ad where you can go check the device and the battery health (bring a laptop to do that).
