For those that only focus on the flaws, that is ok. If there are no good qualities that is one sided. For those that find the screen satisfies or enhances their use, that is great. For some there may be real issues and impact their usage. For many others the tradeoffs are fine. I am still unboxing my iPad 12.9 M1 as I type this and I am loving it.
I'm testing to see if blooming means anything. I know if I were to take a photo of the screen I can easily make it look like blooming, that is what a mobile camera will do. If you use a great Camera app like Pro Camera for manual controls and settings, or use a solid DSLR or mirrorless, the effect does not show up since it is capturing a non-boosted / less enhanced image.
As to they should have used OLED.....my neighbor is on their 3rd replacement screen on their OLED TV. So every technology has its issues. Which sinks or floats your boat.\
For everyone saying "meh, I'll wait". Then wait. Apple will survive. If a Galaxy Note is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then ok again.
For me, processing a 100mb photo for a client that blooms to 1 GB during processing, I'll take the 12.9 M1 iPad. For me, processing on site a 4K 20 minute video in 1/4 to 1/16 the time it took before, I'll take it. If it blooms when I turn all the lights out and watch a high contrast image....no issue. I don't do that. A few movie scenes and perhaps a text file with white text might be an issue. Wait...who types up black background text files with white type....why use that? Not what the eye wants to see.....
