iPad Pro 3rd Gen and Apple Pencil 1 Compatibility?

Does anyone know if the original Apple Pencil will be compatible with the new iPad Pro models? Perhaps with a USB C to Lightning adapter? The new models look wonderful, but the pricing of the new pencil seems unnecessary if I can get my original pencil to work.

I don’t think a lightning adapter would work. I think apples thinking is if you want a new iPad Pro and to take advantage of the wireless charging pencil features they highlighted and stuff, you’ll get the new one. They want that extra moolah
