OMG, I didn’t know what I was missing until I picked up a new iPad Pro last weekend. I upgraded from an iPad Pro 1st gen 256GB because the battery was shot and it wasn’t worth repair. Gave that one to my sister who is thrilled to have a freebie. It still worked great when plugged into a power source. Win/win.

Not sure if I’m completely sold on the Apple keyboard that’s made for it. It works well and has good stability but, it limits protection around the corners in the event of a drop. I rarely drop anything but I’ve dropped 3 iPhones over my lifetime of owning mobile devices and shatter screens every time I’ve dropped them so I’m a bit nervous about what could happen with the iPad. I’m going to mosey over to the accessories topic and see what folks suggest.

From the look of things, this is a very informative forum so I’ve already become a paying member to support the platform and thank all its contributors for providing info I’ve already found useful.

This is my first post of hopefully many yet to come. Happy Saturday. Be safe everyone!

I got my first iPP back in Dec 2021 and still in love with it. You can read the story of how it replaced my MacBook Pro, and just how many things you can do with your new iPP at the two links in my signature. Congratulations!

BTW...I use the Logitech Combo Touch which I like much better than the Magic Keyboard Case. I will explain in your post over in iPad accessories. Or you can read it here...

Thanks everyone! The portability is definitely pretty amazing and setup was a breeze compared to several years ago. These devices have come a long way.

I appreciate the link to the keyboard @bondr006 Thanks! Checking it out now.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I also love my 12.9 M1.
Protection for this huge tablet is a must, both on the sides and the screen itself too.
Mine has been solid since july 2021, only one unwanted issue happened when I had it in my bed on a pillow, being charged and charging cables connector inside iPad was in odd angle while lying there and it might have shorted something or what not, because the iPad restarted itself out of the blue, which, as far as I can recall, it never did before.

Glad you like your iPad! I love mine as well. I recently bought a 14” MacBook Pro and thought about selling my iPad Pro and magic keyboard to cover the cost but once I go back to my iPad I find I enjoy the experience more than the Mac. The Mac is more powerful than I need (so is the iPad Pro for that matter) but I want an XDR display and the iPad remains the least expensive way to get that. I’m probably going to return the 14“.

I realized that the iPad is more versatile for my uses. I can watch movies and tv shows, with the keyboard I can type till the cows come home and I can draw or write notes by hand. Ultimately iPad allows me to try different things where the Mac does not because it does not have as many input methods. There are absolutely advantages to the Mac such as much better multi-tasking with resizable windows and the ability to restore my iOS devices should I ever need that, and the ability to download apps from multiple places, not just the App Store. I’ve decided those just aren’t that important right now.

In the future I might get a Mac Mini, buy a cheap monitor, keyboard and mouse so I have a mac when I need one, or I might just get a 24“ iMac.
