Hello guys! I have an iPad Pro 9,7" 128 GB (2016) with its warranty that is expiring in few months. The new iPad 9,7" is out in few days and I was thinking: I can still sell my "old" iPad Pro at a good price and then buy the new iPad "for free". I'm using the iPad Pro not so much (browsing internet, some presentations, some videos, etc.) and maybe the new iPad would be a good value for my use and without spending a buck.

What do you think? Am I crazy? The RAM is the same, the processor is better, what would I miss? Waiting for your comments! :)

Well like...why do you even want the new one? What benefit do you really see yourself getting from this? Cause i honestly cant understand why you’d wanna basically do an even trade for something that has tradeoffs

Oh yes, you're right, sorry, didn't mention in my first post. The reason is that my iPad Pro will end warranty in few months, so it will decrease its value in few months. For the same money I can get by selling it, I can get a new one with 2 additional years of warranty. It's just a money/value/warranty issue... Don't know if I have explained well...

The question is: is worth holding my iPad Pro with its value decreasing in months and not buying a new iPad that will at least be ok for 2 additional years?

The Pro models have four speakers that are stereo and produce a fuller sound than the smaller speakers in the iPad.

Better speakers > Small processor bump

I wouldn't worry about warranty as iPads are very reliable.

MacRumors has a front page article describing the differences. You can read about it here: New Sixth-Generation iPad vs. 10.5-Inch iPad Pro

The biggest difference for me between the pro and non-pro is the ram and processor. Is that worth the 320 dollar upcharge? Probably not for most people.

As for the new iPad vs. the old iPad Pro, I don't think its worth buying for the sole reason that the warranty is going to expire, or am I missing something?

Absolutely, the qustion is why spend more money to replace a product that is working fine and you may not get much benefit from upgrading. Who cares if the value decreases over the next two years, we're not talking about a ming vase or a piece of art. We're talking about a tool that does a job, and if its continuing to do that job, keep using it

From an economical point of view it might make sense because of the warranty and because the new one will probably be supported for longer with iOS updates. But you also have to take into account all the accessories, if you spent a lot on a good case or on the smart keyboard then you would be losing more by replacing it.

For the user experience it depends if you use and appreciate the added features of your iPad Pro. The display for one is much better. There's also the smart connector. lf you don't care about any of those and just want to save a bit of money in the long run, only then it might be worth considering.

I would like to keep the laminted screen, stereo speakers and even the better cameras.

Why not put all specs next to each other and see for yourself? (It’ll much like the comparison posted above)
