Will the iPad support 16:9 while connected to a 16:9 TV using the AV Adapter? I want to use my iPad Pro 11 to record gameplay for youtube, but the aspect ratio is holding me from stop using my iPhone for that.. if yes, what about the output resolution?

Yes & no. The display is mirrored so the aspect ratio remains the same. But some apps - primarily video players - will expand to use the wider screen when playing widescreen videos. But the majority of apps & screens will show in the 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars on the sides.

nPlayer, VLC and Infuse video players do. Real Racing 3 (game) expands to use most of a wide screen but not all.

Jump Desktop will also output to the correct video aspect ration. I connect to my work virtual PC and the output is scaled correctly (2560x1440). It is kind of neat how it works and makes for a great remote desktop experience.

Yeah. And combine it with a mouse, it's almost like working directly on the remote device. A small amount of lag, but not much. It does work very well.

To go back to the OP's question, a few games are smart enough that when they have dual screens, either via the adapter or AirPlay, they will display the game at 16:9 and even show a different view on the device, like a map or stats. But I think those are fairly rare.

I think it was yet another one of those Apple ideas that was too much work for cheap mobile games, so it got forgotten about.
