iPad Pro and Microsoft Office

I got microsoft office for free on my iPad Air 2. However I read that Microsoft does not offer a free version for the iPad Pro. Is that true?

So if I buy the new iPad Pro 13", I will have to pay for Microsoft Office?

Microsoft has a strange requirement that Office is free to use on any iPad less than 10". So the current 9.7" it's free, for the 12.9 and upcoming 10.5, you will have to be a subscriber to use it.
