Has anyone tried these before? I would love to utilize my IPP next to my MBP when I'm at home.

i use my 2018 iPad Pro as a second display for my Mac mini. I usually put Skype and messages on the second display, or a safari page with references.

It worked well, both wirelessly and using a usb-c cable.

I've done it through Sidecar and, before that, Luna Display (https://astropad.com/product/lunadisplay/) on both my 2016 MBP and 2021 MBP (paired with a 12.9" 2018 iPad Pro)

It works well enough, but I find myself treating it like less of a monitor and more of an auxiliary device (e.g., activity monitor, Mail, and other informational apps). I *might* find it more enjoyable if my iPad Pro were 15"+, but right now it just feels more like a novelty.

I have found sidecar not work as well as it sounds. There are a number of oddities, and I personally find it confusing. It is not the same as a real second display. You need to try it out.

My link didn't work. I found some magnets that attach to the laptop, they work ok. Its a bit heavy on my MBP. I also attached anchor points to an external monitor and work and it worked ok, but I have to support the monitor from the weight. I was familiar with side car, sorry for the confusion!

I currently use my iPad Pro via Sidecar with an Apple Pencil for sculpting in ZBrush running on a Mini, works great.

There’s also the new Universal Control which I haven’t tried yet.

Sidecar works best with a physical connection. It’s basically streaming a desktop to the iPad so you want the highest bandwidth/lowest latency transport.

It works fine though, you can even use it like a Wacom tablet.

I have gotten used to the screen real estate afforded by my home office monitors, when I'm on the go and not reading pdfs on the tablet, i'll gladly use sidecar to get that extra window open.

12.9'' does pair very nicely with the 14''.

If you already own an iPad, knock yourself out, if you plan to buy an iPad for this purpose without a clear reason to operate the device on it's own, you'll be better off with an affordable 4k display.

Quite useful on business trips or when you need some extra screen estate for sure! Especially long train trips
