Hello,
I updated my Ipad Pro 9.7" to iOS 11.2.5 beta build 6 yesterday (I was previously on build 5) and was charging my iPad using the official mains charger. The battery reached 71% and then i powered off the iPad completely and unplugged the charger for the night. In the morning I plugged the charger back in and the iPad did not automatically boot up as expected. I manually powered it on and noticed that it said 1% battery. Shortly after unplugging the cable it powers off and keeps trying to reboot.
If I leave it plugged in it stays on 1% but does not show the charging symbol. The same occurs when I plug it into the Mac but it does not launch iTunes or Photos app and does not read the device. When I plug or unplug the cable it does not wake up the screen and it does not make a chime noise when I plug the cable in.
The battery widget does not show any information. I tried doing a reset all settings and now the battery widget does not even show in the widgets section and is not available to add the widget in edit section. After connecting the Apple Pencil the widget reappeared but the iPad battery status is still missing.
The battery was working as expected with no signs of failing right up until this time.
At first I thought it may have been a bug after updating the beta but a hard reset and reset all settings did not fix the issue. I then thought maybe it was an issue with the cable/charger but the fact that the battery discharged from 71% to 1% overnight while switched off makes me think worst case scenario... battery failure. However it seems strange that connecting the iPad to the Mac does not work if it was just a battery issue but maybe this is normal if the battery is so low... or maybe the charger had a fault which caused the battery to also fail?
I will try another cable and charger when I get the chance but I'm thinking I may need to visit the Apple Store. Any help or ideas welcome as getting to the Apple Store is a big difficulty.
Thanks
P.S. I notice there is a new beta update (build 7) but I am unable to update due to low battery and can not update via iTunes as it is not connecting to the device when plugged in.
