After my first full charge I wanted to test battery life, so I didn't charge it the next night. When it was at 9% battery, I had used it for 7 1/2 hours. This extrapolates to 8 1/3 hours to an empty battery. It was not quite bed time of the second day. The lion's share of usage was on the Amazon Video app. I turn the screen up pretty bright to watch video.
After the next full charge I again used it until it was near empty. It was at around 10% near the end of the second day of use of that charge cycle, and it had been in use 10 1/4 hours. This extrapolates to 11 1/3 hours to empty battery. During that charge cycle the lion's share of the usage had been on the Kindle app. I turn the screen brightness down for reading.
Of course, a bright screen will deplete the battery faster, and perhaps (?) active use of Wi-Fi also depletes it faster? I have Wi-Fi on all the time, and I have Bluetooth off. I have background app refresh off for most apps, but on for a few.
The next few days I plugged it in every night because I figured I had the results of my test, but yesterday after just 4 1/2 hours of use the battery was down to 33%. That extrapolates to just 6 3/4 hours to empty battery. Curiously, I'd been using the Kindle app more than the Amazon Video app.
I'm okay with this because I'm never going to use it more than 6 hours in a day, and I plug it in every night unless I'm conducting a battery-life test. But it does seem a bit low. Apple says "Up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi‑Fi, watching video, or listening to music." Clever of them to give a maximum, rather than a minimum. That way it sounds as though they're saying something useful when they're really not. I still love the iPad Pro. But as a believer in information, I figure people should know this stuff.
Mine is the 128 GB Wi-Fi only.
Perhaps folks would like to share their experience of battery life, or tips to extend it.
