Just seeking some advice from people who know a lot more about iPads than I do.

I recently purchased a pre-owned iPad Pro 9.7 128GB (2016) on eBay. The iPad is in excellent near new condition and is currently running iOS 13.2.2. The battery health is 95% after 190 charge cycles. The battery loses about 1% every 24 hours when in standby.

I purchased the iPad mainly for watching videos. The problem is that no matter which video player I use and what settings I try the battery only lasts an average of 6 hours when playing videos.

This is with brightness set at 50% in airplane mode and everything else turned off. The battery software shows the video player is responsible for 96% of battery usage.

Does 6 hours seem like a fair amount of time for such an iPad or does this indicate a battery or software problem? I would have been hoping for about 9 to 10 hours instead.

Maybe try updating it to iPadOS 13.2.3. With iPadOS 13.2.2, there were a lot of battery draining problems.

I'm having the same issue on my 12.9 ipad pro 2018. I'm only getting just under 5 hours of battery steaming video. iPad os is up to date, all apps up to date. Battery used to legit last like 10 hours and now it's half. Have tried full restore, turning off settings, apple said diagnostics came up fine. Very frustrated.

Automatic Apple, thanks for your suggestion; I upgraded to iOS 13.2.3 and it made no difference to the battery usage.

Remix26, what was the iOS version installed at the time you were getting 10 hours compared to the version installed when you are now getting 5 hours of battery use?

It was the last public version of iOS 12, ever since iOS 13 my battery life has been basically cut in half and hasn’t recovered. Apple says the battery health is fine and to try dimming the brightness. Which of course doesn’t help.

I would like to downgrade to an earlier iOS version as I believe this could solve the problem. Of course, Apple will not allow this.

I can't believe I have paid for a device on which I am not allowed to choose which compatible operating system I can install because it doesn't fit with Apple's control freak mentality.
