Hello there

I bought an iPad Pro 9 days ago and I’m charging it for the second time, now. I put it in charge at 8:30pm with 9% remaining and I hope it will get fully charged in 2 hours.

Typically what’s the charging time with the included charger?

I also have a MacBook Pro 13" from 2018 and I was wondering if this charger could be advised instead of using the one given with the iPad.

Gentleperson,

Apple’s support document that says the following iOS devices are compatible with the 18W, 29W, 30W, 61W, 87W, and 96W adapters for fast charging: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and later. iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st generation and later) iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later).

Power supplies of other companies (Anker, IkKEA, RAVPower etc.),which offer USB-C Power Delivery, might even charge your iPad faster.

The power supply which came with the iPP is okay but slow.

The iPad Pros will fast charge at up to 30W so the MBP charger that you have will charge it faster than the 18W/20W charger provided with the iPad.

There is probably some impact on the battery health but I’ve been charging a 2018 iPad Pro mostly with the 61W MBP charger for the past two years and I’d say the impact is negligible, I don’t feel the battery has aged any worse than had it always been charged with the 18W charger.

I charged up a 4th gen iPad Pro 12.9” from zero to 100% yesterday with the 30W charger from my M1 MBA. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Charging from zero to 100% is basically my intent to calibrate the battery.
