Looking for help with a interesting problem..

Have a seagate 2TB usb 3.0 hard drive that spins and lights come on when i plug it into my usb c hub but it does not show up in files. It worked one or two times when i reformatted it to exfat but does not work anymore.

I have tried restarting ipad and plugging ipad into power with the hub. Anyone?!

Can you try the hub setup with any other device? Can you connect the drive to the iPad any other way? The intent is to eliminate the hub as a source of the issue.

It works when I use the same hub on my PC with the hard drive, but that is the only other usb c hardware I own.. Also my hard drive unfortunately only has the usb A cord

Possible to format it as APFS ? I think it’s better in APFS than ExFAT.
I had it in APFS before and it did the same thing, connected once or twice and then would not show up in files afterwards which is why I reformatted.

Does the Seagate hard drive officially support iPadOS?

Can you try with another iPad? Have you restarted the iPad as well just to eliminate any potential software hiccup?

Have you tried another drive? Every now and then I find a drive / device combo that is just finicky. I usually blame it on the connectors or the voltage is off and move on with a drive that does work. Life is short. Exfat works fine for me. Sorry.

Given your flash drives work, its not a port problem which is good news I would think. Do you use the same adapters? Might be a power draw problem? how are you powering the hard drives?
