I was making my bed (and having some problems at the time), when i forgot the table was there and the table fell down to the floor from that hight, first touch the floor a corner then went flat screen down, apparently nothing happened to it.I was using a case.

These things are make to resist right? Geeez....

A couple of years ago my M1 12.9 fell from over 1m in the the bathroom floor face down... Nothing...

iPad repairs are expensive enough that I just get AC+ as a matter of course. Sure, if you add up the AC+ fees over the iPads I've had over the years, vs. the cost of repairs they've saved, it's probably in the red... but it gives me peace of mind, which is worth something too.

I shudder to think how much I’ve spent on AC+ premiums over the years and only ever used it once for a battery replacement. I could buy something shiny for my wife for that.

One day I was holding my 11inch IPP open in MKB and slipped on the stairs and momentum caused me to throw the whole thing down the stairs - with force. Not a scratch on the darn thing. Mind boggling.

I could say the same about home or auto insurance. Or health or life insurance.

But I still have those too 😉

The difference is that I don't have the money sitting around in an account to replace my house. I sure as heck don't want to pay out of pocket for a big health event. Replacing a piece of tech, while annoying, doesn't impact me financially. Even the value of my car gets down to a point where I decide it's better to just carry liability.

I've dropped my iPads a fair amount of times. I have no case, no screen protector and it's been fine BUT!!!! (Big but...) I've also had times where I wasn't so lucky.

The first gen mini...I dropped it just slightly on concrete and any time glass hits an uneven surface like that its bad news and this was no exception, the screen broke in the corner. This was before accidental damage coverage.

My last iPad 11 Pro had a similar fall. It was in a case (a Smart Folio) but slipped from my hands and landed on the edge where the power button was, right on a rock in a parking lot and it smashed the power button. Luckily I did have accidental damage on it so I paid $50 and got a brand new one.

I have three violent morons for kids and I'm a big idiot and we haven't broken a single iPad between us yet.

They are pretty robust!

Knocked a brand new iPad Pro without a case out a third floor window once. Below the window it nothing but concrete and a single flower pot about 25x25cm big. It’s got a very small fragile lily inside. It’s not even directly below, it’s at an angle and to the side a bit. Somehow the iPad landed on that and bounced on to to concrete. Not a scratch.
