I'm strictly an amateur but I do the majority of my editing on the iPad Pro. Affinity Photo, Snapseed, RAW Power and Exif Data Pro are 4 must have apps for me. The first 3 apps let you do a lot on the iPad.

I just wish first Adobe would fix Lightroom CC. It is a joke compared to the functions/capabilities in Lr Classic. BTW, when will all the plugins like Nik or Topaz be available for LR or Ps on IOS? I would be surprised if that whole ecosystem is up and running by the end of 2019. For now I just use my iPad Pro to collect and cull in the field. Serious editing is on the iMac.

https://www.dpreview.com/news/6759167059/adobe-reportedly-working-on-full-photoshop-version-for-ipad

I just heard that Adobe is working on full version of Photoshop for iPad. Well, if that is true I may dont need Macbook pro since I rarely used it. But, I still need it for Capture One Pro for tethering which is sad for iPad Pro since I have no reasons to buy it. I def need one iPad for previewing images from Capture One Pro but are there any other uses for iPad Pro in photography fields?

You have to go with what works best for you. Speaking for myself, I cannot imagine adequately processing images on a screen that size regardless of the quality of the screen.

DxO released the new versions of NIK about a month ago. They had an introductory price of $50 and a full retail of $69. The address is dxo.com

But what does that have to do with iPads running IOS? We would need Nik and Topaz running on IOS, not MacOS or Windows.

Snapseed was a Nik product before being bought by Google. Some of the tools in it are excellent.

This is likely what the case will be when the (not)full version of Ps is ported to iOS.

What is likely happening is that Abobe is working to unify their code base across a wider range of OSs (Win, macOS, iOS, Android, and possibly other non-macOS flavors of Unix/Linux) and processors (x86, ARM, ...). This will make offering variants of their apps across the spectrum much easier and more reliable. I suspect that killing the old Lr Mobile and moving to the Lr Classic & Lr CC pair was the prototype for this, and now we're seeing talk (spin?) about something similar with Ps.

There is no way any iOS device will be able to handle a true full version of Ps anytime in the foreseeable future. Even if the iOS & Android variants support a plugin architecture it will take time for the plugin vendors to port their code. The only real hope for plugin support will be if Adobe tweaks all variants to support the same architecture. Even then, differences in the feature sets of the various variants will limit compatiblility.
