Has this been fixed yet ? Still deciding to buy a new iPad.
I closed my bug reports due to no one contributing with the logs I asked. If someone still wants to do it file a bug reporter here: https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/

I don't want to use wireless headphones, so I decided not to invest in a new iPAD anymore, after reading these complaints.

- First there's this wi-fi interference.

- Then someone says that using this dongle drains too much battery: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ne-adapter-draining-a-lot-of-battery.2156206/

- And finally this reviewer says...

Bit of an interesting shortcoming revealed in iOS Today’s iPad Pro review. When connecting headphones via a USB-C adapter, Facetime will not route the audio through them - instead it comes through the internal speakers. With no headphone jack, that means the only way to FaceTime semi-privately is via Airpods/wireless headphones.

Hope they fix this with an update. Presumably this affects other apps, too, though. I wonder if Skype, Hangouts etc are affected. See 1:35 below.

And not to mention the bug I filed in July 14 2018, problem ID 42205880, complaining FaceTime doesn't work in Ethernet Mode. So far no one replied and asked for any log.

It's thanks to things like these I don't support Apple anymore. Even this site (MacRumors) hasn't said anything about it, I wonder what their rea$on$ are.

I also have another bug report about icon behavior: https://pastebin.com/kmFa6z11

No one replied since September 23, 2018.

Since Apple cares a lot more about adding stupid emojis instead of improving (or fixing) their shi.tty hardware then this IPP 10.5 is indeed my last.

Not going to pay 32% more to be treated this way. You pay through the nose and the S.o.Bs can't even do any testing to detect problems like these. If we can't expect the world's first trillion-dollar company to inspect their own products, what else can we hope for?

More price hikes?

I am done with these devices.

Ive been using the satechi module for over a week. I have a 12.9 1TB LTE SG model.

As seen in this photo, i have an Anker PD power brick, with an Choetech USB-PD capable charging/sync cable, along with a USB 3 Ethernet adapter and wired headphones (what you don’t see is a Logitech k780 keyboard that the pad is docked in) .

As of this writing, I’m able to get full speed Ethernet, as well as audio and power. Prior to posting this, i unplugged the Ethernet and ran solely on WiFi (although I have LTE, I did not test prior to posting this) and was able to have audio in the headphones as well as WiFi conectivity.

I shut off the screen , went to pee :p, came back and the tablet was still connected to WiFi.

Ive been loosely following this thread so i may not have done all the tests that is needed to make the tablet “act up”, but I’m happy to test if someone wants to lay out specific steps to see if I can break something...

I have an open case with Apple about this bug and have submitted logs, FWIW.

Pause audio. Let iPad go to sleep on its own. Let it remain asleep for more than 1 minute. Wake the ipad and check that you have Wi-Fi. I have this behavior using a different usb-c hub and DAC as well as the Apple adapter, so I’d suspect you will have it as well.

Did that. Still have WiFi.

Question: does the WiFi icon go away in the notification area up top when you lose WiFi? Or does the icon stay there even though WiFi is not working?

And I’m ASSuming you cant get any WiFi when this happens correct? It’s not just slow, its not working at all?

I also did this with Ethernet since its running through the same usb c port and its not dropped a beat.

EDIT: using the Apple Music player for this test. I have google music and amazon music if that makes a difference.

OP, I had the same exact problem you describe. iPad Pro 11”, attached usbc to 3.5 audio dongle to watch Netflix and basically the tablet stopped working a little later. First, apps stopped connecting properly. Later, screen stopped being responsive.

Tried to force restart the iPad to no avail. The typical combination volume and lock button press during a few seconds didn’t work. Then the screen went black showing the little round activity in the middle during several minutes. I thought the IPad was toasted.

It ended up restarting by itself. So far everything is working again, but I’m not using the dongle anytime soon. So far I’m having more problems with this iPad than with any of the previous models.

Hey,I found in the intel white paper that if usb3 port placed within an inch or 2 to the wifi receiver, interferance occured.Just want to know that has anyone tried using a longer dongle combined with protection like foil or something?

So I tried the IOS beta 12.1.2 and 12.1.3. First off, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to beta since it still has quite a few bugs. For reference I am using the google USB C to 3.5mm adapter (Gen 2)

For IOS 12.1.2, there were 3 scenarios i experienced: (After a week of use)
1) Wifi doesn't work after sleep (Issue in this thread)
2) Wifi works after sleep (Stays in this state for a while and reverts back to state 1 mostly) (sometimes state 3)
3) Wifi works after sleep, does not detect the usb c headphone adapter, plays audios though the speakers

For IOS 12.1.3, the wifi works after sleep even with the headphone adapter plugged in. I installed IOS Beta 12.1.3 just today so this might change after a couple of days.

Thanks for your post! Any update on this matter? :)

I'm glad I found this thread, as this happened with my new IPP12.9 2018 while I was using it with the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. I'm hoping that iOS 12.1.3 will address this when it's released.

iOS 12.1.3 (non beta) is out now and I have currently installed it. As a precaution, wait for a day or 2 to update to see if others experience major issues in the update.

EDIT: Changelog

iOS 12.1.3 includes bug fixes for your iPhone or iPad. This update:
  • Fixes an issue in Messages that could impact scrolling through photos in the Details view
  • Addresses an issue where photos could have striped artifacts after being sent from the Share Sheet
  • Fixes an issue that may cause audio distortion when using external audio input devices on iPad Pro (2018)
  • Resolves an issue that could cause certain CarPlay systems to disconnect from iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max
This release also includes bug fixes for HomePod. This update:
  • Fixes an issue that could cause HomePod to restart
  • Addresses an issue that could cause Siri to stop listening

So nothing, at least in the update notes, that addresses the issues we are discussing in this thread? I really need it fixed. I'm about to update and test it out.

I used all the betas so far and currently testing the 12.1.3 public release and the wifi bug since then has not shown up. The betas changelog did not mention about this issue and the issue was fixed since IOS 12.1.3 Beta 1.

It's not uncommon for Apple to fix these issues without any acknowledgement of the issue in the change log.

Updating now ... will let everyone know if my isssue has been fixed.

I can duplicate the issue in seconds so I can tell right away
[doublepost=1548251465][/doublepost]So far I have not been able to duplicate the issue. So think it may have been addressed !

I think they have fixed this particular issue, although I'd since changed to a 15 minute auto-lock time to minimize its impact and found that much more convenient for me.

There are still issues with my usb-dac however. Periodically it will just stop the music in the middle of playback even while the iPad remains awake. I hear the clicking in my headphones like it's changing sources. It also sometimes stops playback at the time when it goes to sleep. So kind of half fixed. These latter two issues existed on previous iOS versions as well.

That's great! I need to start playing The Witness again. I stopped because headphone are kind of a must for that game and I only have wired ones.

USBC to 3.5mm works fine for me since 12.1.3 betas. I haven't tested on release version as I usually use it while I'm at work but I'm off since the release. I've since returned the dongle as I found a better solution for my needs. I hate the fact I can't charge my iPad when I'm using headphones so I bought this link below. Only tested it for a few seconds but it seems to work great. Im not an audio junky and only need them to watch media content. I have cheap wired headphones for every day use and nice wireless headphones for when I'm travelling.

The headphone I have are working fine with the dongle. The problem was I would lose WiFi connectivity if I left it connected.

Yes that was fixed with 12.1.3 at least in the beta version. I didn't get a chance to test on stable release version as I returned the dongle. I had the same issue prior.
