Hello.

I recently purchased a 2nd hand iPad Pro from a discount shop.
I never checked while in the store as was running late for an appointment.
Upon arriving home and turning on the unit I found I could only get as far as a screen that required the previous owners email address and password.
I entered the units serial number on line and it came up as either lost or stolen.
I contacted the store I purchased it from for a refund but the advised that the goods are sold as seen and no returns accepted.
I asked if the kept a record of the previous owner and they advised they did not.

My question is, how do I get around and unblock iCloud so the unit can function normally. At a complete loss and out of pocket by a considerable amount to have an item that will not function.

Any help and assistance appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You’re out of luck. Apple will unlock devices for the original owner, with proper proof of purchase but iCloud activation lock is intended to make the device useless if lost or stolen, and it’s working as intended here.

Not much you can do.

You could try posting in different forums in an effort to locate the previous owner but the chance of getting it unlocked will be very slim.

I did think about that but after looking there is a whole selection of forums and would take forever.

I know what you mean.

I bought an iPhone for parts. The person selling it said that it wouldn't power on and the apple store said she needed a new logic board. I bought it and got it to boot. I used iTunes to perform a restore but can not activate it since find my iPhone had been enabled. I emailed her and placed an ad in the forum where I bought it but she didn't respond.

I'm sure the local Police would be interested to hear about a second hand job potentially selling stolen goods...

Think the Keystone Cops would take more interest as the Police won't bother as to them it's not a real crime and interrupts their McDonalds food stops.

Some configurations of iPad Pro can be worth over $1000. That would count as a "real crime" anywhere.
