Hi all,

I need to upgrade an older family member and I think the 12.9 might be a good fit esp for their eye sight and dexterity of button sizes etc. It is mostly overkill but I could see them maybe attaching an external display and this should “future proof“ them as much as possible.

I might see if the currrent air is big enough for them but sort of doubt it. Where do you buy an older device? Check for a good apple/amazon/Best Buy refurbished or ???

I’m usually enough of a nerd that I buy the latest and greatest and the rest of the family gets my older devices so I’d appreciate the feedback. Also since these devices have gotten ridiculously powerful I’m now more than ever considering going second hand for myself. What have your experiences been?

thanks,
Philly

Flash sale at BBY or Costco… outside of that I would go with Swappa. I’ve had good success buying and selling on there

Thank you both. I'll check out the best buy sale first :)
I just checked and say it for 256 + cell for $999.- Does Best Buy run specials at random times or is there a method to their madness?

I'm sure that would be enough. It just seemed like the M1 was a generational jump that might be updated longer?

True. Since you mentioned the possibility of the recipient using the iPad with an external display, how about going with the M1 iPad Air 5 which is frequently on sale.
