The GUI has become much less “fluid” ever since I started using iPad OS and appears to have gotten worse with each patch updates. It’s basically the entire interface and I’m surprised there aren’t more such posts on the forum. Am I missing something?

It would be difficult to record it as it is ever so subtle but definitely there. It’s like a slight lag with everything including typing. Again, we‘re talking mere milliseconds but definitely discernable.

I've found that doing DFU restores to whole numbered releases (e.g. iPadOS 15.x.y to iPadOS 16.x.y) generally helps preserve a bit of speed and smoothness. Though, it's not like the M1 still isn't way overpowered for what iPadOS 16 has to offer.

I'm running current 16.4 beta on my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro and not experiencing any lag. I've had some bugs like everyone but not lagging. Running great for me.

Wow, crazy, I wonder what the culprit in my case is ! Might do a clean install.

If it helps any, my M2 works as fluid as ever... meaning the M1 also shouldn't have any issues since they have similar specs.

My refurbished 2020 11” is still buttery smooth. I can‘t speak for any other iPad. Hope you get your issues worked out.

Could it be because I had 35 tabs open in Safari? I cut it in half and I feel greater responsiveness with the overall GUI 🤔

Mine isnt laggy, but constantly reloading apps despite my M1 not being heavily used.
Not sure if it started with 16 or 16.3 or anything in-between.
