I was wonder if upgrading to either the iPad Pro 3rd Gen (12.9 256GB) or the new iPad Pro M1 (12.9 128GB) would be a good choice for full time digital art. I'm currently using my iPad 5th Gen (9.7 128GB) along with the Wacom Bamboo Fine line 3rd gen as my go to. The screen size is decent but now a few months in I kind of need that bigger screen for the work I'm doing. Along with that extra ram for more layers. On Swappa the iPad 3rd Gen (12.9 256GB) is going for $600 in Good condition as for the M1 (12.9 128GB) they are still charging $1000. But with At&T they want $510 due today and $25 due monthly (36 months). I don't mind forking out the cash but I just want to know is the M1 iPad the same as the iPad 3rd Gen when it comes to art.

You are talking about layers right?
iPad Pro 12.9” 3rd gen has 4GB of RAM compared to M1 iPad Pro 12.9” 8GB, which means you should be able to work with more layers faster and can afford running maybe one or two extra heavy programs in the background. Dunno if you are willing to use Apple Pencil but both supports Apple Pencil 2nd Gen.

iPad Pro M1 is better for artists because it has significantly more RAM for layers compared to the 2018 iPad Pro.
