Vero fast rendering in video editing.
The benchmark are amazing.
The benchmark are amazing.
The same file, rendering, 10;36 minutes with M5 and 16;27 for the M2.Benchmarks are what the marketing wants you to see. By the way it really is fast… and the M4, or even the M2 for most, where fast too
… until the next one 😅Yes they are amazing. Probably Apples best device imo.
so the M2 is still fast, and the M5 is … faster. It is not a revolution, but just an evolution. To be honest I was expecting more by this upgrade from M4 to M5.The same file, rendering, 10;36 minutes with M5 and 16;27 for the M2.
In mobility, iPad born for mobility, is a big difference.
I honestly didn't imagine what this iPad Pro M5 would be like.… until the next one 😅

the CPU performance increase is very modest compared to M4. It's just like M1 to M2, modest CPU increase, bigger GPU increase (if you have anything that uses that GPU power)… until the next one 😅

Even M1 is plenty fast, I'd gladly trade more RAM for the added performance of M5 vs M1Benchmarks are what the marketing wants you to see. By the way it really is fast… and the M4, or even the M2 for most, where fast too
M5 is CPU +15% and GPU +35% ROM +20%the CPU performance increase is very modest compared to M4. It's just like M1 to M2, modest CPU increase, bigger GPU increase (if you have anything that uses that GPU power)
CPU, a little. M4 was a much bigger jump. Already vs M3, on iPad pro even more as there was no M3.M5 is CPU +15% and GPU +35% ROM +20%
a lot? a little? I don't know.
… until the next one 😅

When you use a tablet on the go—and tablets are designed for mobility, unlike a PC that must sit on a desk—being able to render quickly and reduce export or processing times is essential.Yeah, yeah. We know.
But what's the point of that power if you can only use it for web browsing and reading files (or editing videos at most, for high-end professionals)?

You can render a video in 40 minutes, but if it takes 20 minutes, it's even better. You'll produce more with mobility, which helps keep the battery from draining after just a little bit of work.
Obviously we are talking about a product that is purchased by those who need it and use it for its qualities, it would make no sense to assume the opposite.
Rendering in 7 minutes or 10 minutes on the go makes a big difference. But anything before M5 could already render very fast. And even if there is a significant difference for video editors, it's a very niche market compared to all other users.
Also, chances are if you need rendering that fast, you are also better off with a device with a more complete system, such as a Macbook Pro. It will be even faster while not being that much bulkier – because let's face it, a Macbook is already very light as-is.
I honestly don't see many scenarios where the portability difference would be so significant for movie editing and exporting that would specifically justify bringing an iPad but would make a Macbook too heavy, especially when you could get even lighter models which are more powerful / versatile than an iPad.
Rendering in 7 minutes or 10 minutes on the go makes a big difference.
This is a niche product.
If you don't do these things, you'll buy something else at a lower price.
What's right or wrong for you doesn't necessarily match my needs.
For me, a new iPhone would be pointless, and I won't buy one. For others, it might be an Apple Watch or an iPad Pro.
I had a MacBook Pro in 2017 for a few months and a MacBook Pro M1 in 2020, but I resold them.
For me, the iPad is much more useful and functional.
Everyone has their own needs.
Not all products have to be mainstream.

Interact with the screen through touch. That’s pretty criticalWe will agree to disagree.
An iPad is more practical in some scenarios, yes. But it's definitely not more USEFUL than Macbook.
Just name one thing the iPad can do that the Macbook cannot that's critical. The only thing I can think of is using the Apple pencil, which is an artificial limitation and is definitely addressable.

What kind of animal?
I didn’t say touch to export videos. You ever tried to play Angry Birds with a mouse? ****’s wildIn most scenarios, not really. And especially if you need to control your device remotely (which is far more likely), having to use touch is actually a hindrance. And I definitely do not see a general scenario where you MUST use touch to edit and export videos.
