iPad Pro Ipad Pro Magic Keyboard

Does the magic keyboard feel great when using it on your lap or in bed? Does it feel like a laptop or more of a flimsy keyboard? Does it sit flat on your lap like a laptop?

The 11" is pretty stout. I've used it with my Ipad Air 4 and now my Ipad Pro 11". With that said though, I personally never found it comfortable to actually use it on my lap. But it's definitely not flimsy. It's surprisingly pretty stiff. One reviewer said that the 11" is more balanced and seemed better suited for on the lap typing but the bigger 12.9" might have some balance issues.

If I may tag along with more questions... How about the trackpad, does it work like a normal pointer, for example if I have a Remote Desktop open or VNC session will it behave like a normal pointer/cursor? And in apps like Pages, Numbers, Notes?

I haven't used trackpad often enough to know for sure. But I find myself just using the screen for touch. I use the trackpad only if I have it is further from my arm like when it's on my desk. But from the little amount I've used it it more or less feels like desktop/laptop experience.

I found it comfortable enough on my iPad Pro 11” in my lap. I wouldn’t say that it’s great that way. It’s absolutely the best feeling keyboard I’ve ever used. The trackpad is great for the size, but it’s nowhere near as good as a MacBook.

Unfortunately, I didn’t keep it because it just felt like overkill. Already having a MacBook Air, it’s redundant. If I didn’t have a laptop, I’d probably have kept it.

I have a feeling that once I no longer am in graduate school and need full desktop OS, I may end up going to just an iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard. Hopefully by then Apple will have matched MacBook battery life on the iPad.

The magic keyboards are awesome, and there should be numerous reviews on them out there. I’ve tried dozens of 3rd party keyboards Over the years, and you won’t be able to find one better than the Apple versions. I will say that at 12.9 Magic Keyboard feels less stable on my lap as the large iPad makes it feel top-heavy. That said, I’ve never had it fall backwards off my lap. The 11Inch Magic Keyboard feels great, no problem with the size. I haven’t used my MacBook in quite some time.

I log onto my work VPN session all the time with my 11" iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard. The trackpad works exactly as expected, and with a great deal of precision. In addition to the usual iOS swiping gestures, it recognizes right clicks, etc., in a virtual Windows environment (but check your software just to make sure). I highly recommend the Magic Keyboard and its trackpad.

I would say it feels great. Kind of heavy, but super feel for typing. I really did not think I would use it this much, but even for just reading, it has such a nice, adjustable angle for the iPad I leave it on all the time.
