I saw the new Huawei 11.5s in store and compared it with my iPad Pro. I was so impressed with the screen that I ordered one immediately. I got my iPad Pro for 2364 Singapore dollars and got the Huawei mate pro for 620 Singapore dollars and it comes with the keyboard, mouse and wireless earbuds… insane difference in price.

the matepad is handicapped by the software but the screen is pretty amazing. The reflection rejection is better than my iPad. The iPad is brighter but the difference is not that big indoors.

below is a video comparison, I tried to get the light reflection on the matepad but it is not easy.
iPad with True Tone off. Matepad with default settings and it’s seems cooler. If I change matepad to warm color balance in settings the colors match better. Both at maximum brightness

My question is how sensitive to damage are these nano texture displays? Apple puts it on their monitor and recommends special care when cleaning. You don’t even touch the monitor. A tablet is going to get handled all the time

And that is one of many reasons why Huawei is banned (from competing in the US).

If there is grit caught between the glass and a flip cover, theoretically it should be slightly more prone to scratches.

Regarding cleaning, you can use any microfiber cloth. The display would be a design fail if it can only be cleaned by a special cloth. How many would read the instruction that a special cloth is needed?

Yes but the person who loses out is the consumer because the Huawei matepad cannot run Netflix or YouTube apps. one of these days, I will try to extract myself out if the apple ecosystem… the price gorging by apple….

To my eyes the iPad Pro looks better at rejecting external lights in that video starting at 1:07, as you can clearly see the light source in the huwawei matepad. The colours are definitely much nicer than the iPad with true tone off.

Err… the iPad is on the right, the one that shows the light source clearly at 1.07. the ipad has better colors and contrast because of the tandem oled but the difference is not huge. The point is that the nano texture which I paid so much for because apple is determined to wring every cent from consumers, is inferior to Huawei matte technology.
that is the problem when u have less competition…

Oh wow! Definitely agree that the Huawei is superior to the iPad nano texture. I was seriously thinking about getting the nano texture but after seeing this, not so sure and maybe just go for the regular screen and put a matte screen protector.

The nano texture that they use for the display is different than the one that they use for the tablet. The one for the display is literally etched. The one for the tablet is some sort of chemical process. They have very different considerations for care.

Using it since launch with Smart Folio, the screen still looks good.

I think the huawei screen is very good. I doubt u can get anywhere like it with a matte screen protector. But I did not test.

I read this thread and then Googled it. Apparently it's a decent screen but the software is not. I would imagine a digital artist might want to try this, but everyone else should steer clear. If you want a notepad there are better options. It's interesting though, the comparisons.

The one major issue I have with the nano is having to pay an absurd price for 1tb+ that I won't use a third of. Also, there's a question of durability. The user base for the nano is very small.

A marketing mistake with the ram.

ya the software on the Huawei is horrible, through no fault of Huawei though... It is not that bad if you use Chinese app or watch Chinese shows like me as some of the china app are better for this use case. Else you have to access stuff like YouTube and Disneyplus from the browser and I can't even get Netflix working without side loading third party app (which I am not prepared to do).

I am just sad that apple does not need to offer nano screen to the 256GB model because of the lack of competition... if Huawei can offer a matt screen tablet that works with android, I am pretty sure Apple will not be able to sell much nano screen iPad.
