FYI - BestBuy Online already has the iPad Pro as an open box item - looks like an okay discount for those wanting in at a lower price point - looks like $727 is the starting price for the low end models.

Good find but, I want to point out you can buy them new on macmall and not pay tax and i will be brand new.
Proof:
iPad Pro 128GB 863.99 Open Box + Tax (in Texas 7%)-924.48
Mac mall iPad Pro 128- 937.00 no tax.
Or if you have a recently opened Discover card and use ApplePay at Best Buy you can get 22% cash back from Discover regardless if it's open box or new.
I returned an iPad Pro to Best Buy and the guy told me they would have it on open box the next day. I returned mine simply because it was just too big for what I was looking to do and I am not really interested in the pencil and keyboard. I think most of the ones that are open box right now that is the case. So, you can save some coins, but as other have said if your area has sales tax that will add to the cost. I recently purchased an Air 2 on Amazon and saved $140 off the device and another $45 in sales tax = $185 savings. No Pro's on Amazon though!
Ditto. Not worth the potential problems or just the fact you have to deal with someones greasy hands have been all over your "new" premium product.
A Lysol wipe takes care of someone greasy hands and it comes with the same exactly warranty that a brand new one that has never been opened comes with. Not to mention the likelihood of there being problems is about the same as the brand new one. When returned Best Buy has always asked me if there is anything wrong with it. Unless the person is an ****** and just says no, then chances are pretty slim. The forum is full of reports of people buying brand news ones with issues. So it's all sort of a moot point and really just boils down to personal preference. I'll save the money every time! LOL
I just bought an iPad Pro 12.9" 256GB Geek Squad Certified Open Box in Dec 22, 2018. Here is what I found when received it:
- the box looked old, dirty and used. The plastic wrapper around the iPad was some shopping plastic bag, not the original one. Other accessories were not wrapped and looked used
- checking with Apple support showed that
+ the original buy date was 3 months ago, around Aug. 2018
+ Phone support: EXPIRED
+ Warranty estimated expiry date: Aug. 18 2019. So, the manufacture warranty is only 8 months instead of the full one year.
+ I ran some battery health app and it said Wear level of 35%. Very high!

Note that you can't get AppleCare+ on a used iPad Pro if it is more than 60 days old. I'd recommended making sure this is the case, and strongly recommending getting AppleCare+ which will allow you to get a $50 new replacement from Apple in case the used one fails, which is definitely going to be in much better condition than a "Geek Squad Certified" iPad Pro.
2nd the AppleCare+ recommendation. That's what I do when I buy Apple refurbs.
Typically I'll do Apple refurb rather than refurbs from other sellers. I feel a little more comfortable in the thought that Apple does a little QC while repackaging and I'm more confident that a full warranty will be provided. It doesn't completely eliminate the chance of issues but there's still some added value there.

Micro center still had the $150 off on the 256gb 11” a couple of days ago.

I take it you bought a Gen 2 iPad Pro and not the new 3rd Gen by the dates you posted? August 2018 the new pro’s we’re not released yet.
Buys open box items and then is surprised when the cables and accessories look used. All Best Buy does is verify it works and slap it back in the box. Buying an open box item for a product released in 2017 is probably not a good idea as you found out. If you're going to buy open box, start looking immediately after the product is released. That way you know how old the device is and your chances of getting a product that was term and not really used are high.
Yes. I would almost consider buying a 256gb 11” at that price. My local Best Buy would price match too.
I’d never buy open box or refurb iPPs, especially when MicroCenter keeps running these sales.
Yes. I asked if the manager if they would and he said Sure, any time I want to price match to buy Apple stuff they will do it. I had the micro center page open on my phone, so they could verify and I was very polite to him and another sales rep. I was also direct and patient about it.
Apparently, my BB has a list of retailers they will price match in their system. Apple and Micro Center were both on that list.
