Honestly, if you aren't sure of which iPad you need, chances are you don't anything more than the entry level iPad, which starts at $329. You'll be able to watch videos/movies, emails, surf the web, video calls, and a bunch of other things. It even works with the Apple Pencil (first gen).

If you had a legitimate need for something more advanced like the iPad Air or iPad Pro, you would already know that. Stick to the cheapest one for now.

Same situation here. I have a iPad Pro 2016 and now it’s time for upgrade. I go for iPad Pro.

None of us here can help you without some form of detail on what you would use the iPad for.
As the previous poster has mentioned, a base iPad 8th gen is enough for most users. If you are wanting to spend more time drawing, then the screen and pencil upgrades of the air are a good idea. If you are looking for a full replacement computing device and usage for photo and video editing then go all out and buy the pro.

OK, so you'd like the iPad Pro. Can you afford one? If so then buy it.

If you are genuinely asking for advice on whether you need it, or whether the Air 4 would suit you equally well and save you some money, then you need to tell us something about what you will use it for. But it's your money, so if wanting it is sufficient reason for you to buy it then you may do that - you don't need our approval ;)

If you need to ask, go for the cheapest, if you want the pro but is it not so urgent wait for the next one.

I just made this for myself, the 21 pro is just speculations by the rumors and calculations from previous scores of geekbench.

I'm saying that if you want advice on whether you should buy the Pro then you need to tell us what you will use it for. Nobody can give useful advice unless you tell us that.

But since you said you want the Pro, then if you can afford the Pro and think you will be happier with the Pro then just buy the Pro.

I can't think of a simpler way to say it.

ipad pro 2020 is the best?
Let me tell you in French, maybe that could help more....

Same question here. I bought the iPad 1 when it came out but haven't had a tablet since. But more and more of the magazines I read are going entirely online via apps such as Zinio and PageSuite, which don't provide a good user experience on a laptop. So I'm in the market for a tablet.

I would use the iPad for content consumption more than creation. It wouldn't be a laptop substitute. I'm leaning toward the Pro for two reasons. First, it's the model that offers the largest screen, which I think would make for a better reading experience with my 50-year-old eyes.

Second, it's the flagship model, so I would think that Apple would update/support it for longer than the Air. And that's my question: Does Apple typically provide OS updates for high-end models for a longer period of time than lower and mid-range models? And if so, is this Air the exception because it has a newer, faster chip than the Pro?

I don't mind paying more now if it means my iPad will have a longer useful life. But I also don't want to pay a premium if it doesn't buy that much more time.

Thanks!

Definitely recommend the 12.9. My aunt (59) upgraded from iPad 5th gen to 2017 iPP 12.9 a couple years ago and she loves the large display.

@CoMoMacUser - IMO it's more about the core hardware capabilities than it is about a device being a "flagship" for Apple when it comes to how long it is supported by way of iOS updates. From an update standpoint I would think you can't go wrong with either device given how far back Apple stretches support with each major version update of iOS.

Agree with ru no onna though - the 12.9 is great for those of us who need the larger screens to see things. I love mine.

for me sound quality is important .
what do you think about the stereo speaker of new iPad Air 4 against iPad Pro?
does it sound close to iPad Pro 4 speaker system?or do I have to purchase iPad pro?
