Running a new iPad Pro 12.9 M1. When I take photos on the iPhone 13 Pro Max it updates the iCloud Photos. But when I go to view the images on the iPad they aren't there. I have a message at the bottom saying the updating has been paused to conserve battery life.

Battery is at 100 percent. I then tap the "unpause" link to get things going. It then tells me that it'll allow me to do this automatically for the next 12hrs I think it said.

It's so annoying. I cannot find any settings regards battery management, within the app or other settings to override this on a permanent basis.

Is it even possible?

Thanks.

I could be mistaken but I remember reading somewhere that it would update when the iPad is plugged in AND locked.

I had issues with this but I cycled all my iCloud sync settings (sign out and back in), did the above, and it worked.

I also made sure that iCloud had enough storage; I have over 700GB of photos and videos in there that I’ve collected in over 22 years of Apple usage.

Just to ressurect an old thread, this issue persists, but now I see it on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Some of the reasons why photos taken with the phone camera don't immediately sync with iCloud
  1. Syncing paused to optimise system performance
  2. Sycing paused to conserve battery life (it's at or above 90%)
  3. Syncing paused due to poor network connection (it's on wifi at 100/40mbits/sec or 5G at 200/50 mbits/sec.)
I have to manually force it to sync most times.
