If I were you, I would check with an Apple Store or call over the phone (if you bought it from Apple directly) but ask if they would allow you to swap it for the new model (you just you pay a difference if there is one.) Sometimes (sometimes, not often) Apple may do that, depends on the manager.
Sometimes even Best Buy has done crazy exchanges similar, ( I work at best buy and have seen it is possible) again if you purchased it from there is the only way... but If that doesn't work, doing a FB ad or asking friends and family if they'd be interested sometimes may work in your favor in terms of a good return, (has for me.) Listing it on Ebay or Craig's-list may work (i have found it doesn't
always get a good return.)
But either way, the 1st gen iPad Pro is still amazingly brilliant and faster than any other tablet, and if it works for you and you like it, then stick with it, you won't be disspointed in the slightest. And especially if you purchased the iPP at a good sale discount.
But the second gen iPP will be better, (just from the sound of it and the leaked geekbench specs it sounds amazing.) It's more powerful in single and multi-core speed/power than a late 2016 13" MBP with an i7... and is comparable in single core to a 15" MBP from 2016 (also running a 6th gen i7.) It's not completely equal in the multi-core with the 15" MBP, (but it comes really, really close.)
It's the most powerful and advanced tablet available (and will be for years to come.)
So... IMO, I would say the upgrade would absolutely be worth it because you just barely bought the one you have. But good luck with whatever you decide, I hope it all works out mate.
Kallum.
