iPad Pro iPad Pro ruins SSD every time I plug it in

So I have this issue with an external SanDisk SSD, every time a plug it into to ipad it works fine, and I can transfer files back and forth, but after I unplug it, the SSD needs to go through First Aid or Restoration to work again, every single time. So I have to plug it into an actual computer to fix it every sing time I use it with the iPad. Is there any solution to this?

What format is the SSD? I'm having issues with exFAT formatted drives -

I don't think that the current implementation handles exFAT well at all.
