I have a iPad Pro bought new in 2020. I believe it’s 10”. My touch screen stopped working randomly. I use it daily with my iManifold gauges. I have done a reset by holding for the two buttons until swipe to close comes up, but because I can’t use screen I did the continue to hold the one button for a forced reset. After several resets still no touch screen which makes my iPad useless. Any idea if it’s repairable, something they warranty, a common issue or just Murphy’s Law that seem to be the laws I follow on a regular basis. I need this to work. It’s AC season. It was a $1000 iPad and not something I would expect to be a throwaway and buy new type devise. Please note I am a very good HVAC owner/operator buy have a computer or iPad IQ of 1 so please speak in Laymans terms if you have any advise for me. Thank you. I’m new to this site. It’s very useful! Everyone seems to be very nice. That’s hard to find.

Just out of curiosity, where and when did you by the iPad? If it was from a 3rd party, could they have damaged it somehow before you got it?

The official path is to talk to Apple support, check if it is under warranty still, and make a decision from there. support.apple.com would be my recommendation. Goodluck!

The Apple support app might tell you the warranty period too and if it’s still covered, but since the thing doesn’t respond to touch anymore, giving Apple a call is probably the easiest first step to take here. Best success.

I bought new through my cellular carrier Verizon. They are not very useful or pleasant to deal with. I bought it from a Verizon store without any problems, but when I returned with this problem they look up my account see it’s a business account and tell me I need to call the business department. They don’t handle business accounts in house. Since ordering from my Verizon it’s been a problem. It wouldn’t connect with and cellular service the first 4 months of owning it. I had 5 new sims sent to me and spent 10 hours on the phone with a third party help line that couldn’t get it to work without being connected to a router. Finally I begged someone at a Verizon store to look at it and she figured it out after about an hour. Three months later this happens. Bummer!

Before you might try this:
  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
