This is probably discussed here somewhere but my search didn’t find much.

Does anybody know the average trade in value percentage for an iPad Pro? Through the iPhone upgrade program they give %50 for an iPhone after one year. I’m sure iPads are not as good but how bad is it?

I’m not sure about trade-in values but the majority of iPad users I run into tend to keep their devices for 3-5 years at least - they are that satisfied with them, if the device suits your lifestyle.

Are you sure you’ll return it after just one year?

I don’t have one. I’m considering adding one to my workflow and as usual nerding out before I make the decision. :D

LOL

Well - I could enter my serial number to get you an actual cash figure, but I don't want to depress myself with how little Apple would give me for it, so I'm not going to.

You're thinking about in the wrong way though. These devices aren't investments. Buy them when you need them and use them. I use my IPP 5-6 hours a day in my business workflow. The value is in that and not in some trade-in number that Apple gives me.

Took a quick gander at Gazelle... they quoted an offer of $391 for a flawless 12.9 3rd Gen pro w/ 1TB and cellular-- bonkers. They sell the used 1tb wifi-only model for $1350 though. Moral of the story is.... sell your old iPad yourself ;)

I have sold mine the last few years for about $500. I always add in any accessories I use and usually resell for about $700. Private sale obviously.

Definitely not sure. I was using the one year mark because I know the trade in of iPhones. Was trying to see if it’s similar.

I know it’s not an investment, it’s Apple. :D

Trying to figure out the ‘cost’ to you of something without taking in residual, or resale isn’t the true number. I can only tell the value if I actually end up using it as much as you do.

Moral truly understood. Thanks for taking the time!

That seems extremely low. I recently priced out my iPad that I'm about to trade it. It's a iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen 256gb wifi/cellular and it was $380 for good condition or $420 for flawless condition. Unfortunately my screen is cracked, so I was only offered $185.

OP, you should be able to go to any buyback site and see what's being offered for trade in. If you sell yourself you'll get back a little more.

ETA: I looked up a flawless 3rd Gen 1TB Pro and buybacktronics is offering $900. Never used Gazelle, so if that was their offer I would stay away from them.

Thanks! I know selling is always better, I got out of that with the iPhone because it wasn’t worth the hassle and the IUP was ‘close enough’. Thanks for the info, I will plan on keeping it for a few years if I do end up buying one.

I agree that it’s extremely low. I just plugged in a 2nd gen 12.9 iPad Pro w/ 512gb and cellular and it came back at $322. Barely less than a third gen 1TB. Not the best place to unload an iPad! (I get that you generally get very little for higher storage tiers vs. the base model. But even then...)

That's odd. A few months ago Best Buy gave me $250 for trading in a 1st gen 128GB 12.9 Pro.
