I am looking to purchase a new tablet for reading documents and note taking at work. I would like to get rid of pencil and paper completely at my meetings.

I do want to utilize a keyboard and love the simplicity of the smart keyboard but if there is a keyboard/case that is pretty think and easy to use, I'd be willing to look at that too.

Additionally, I will probably web browse and stream when traveling for work.

Do I need to purchase the Pro or will I be good with the Ipad, Apple Pencil, and a keyboard/case. If you think the Ipad (2018) is the way to go, please suggest a good keyboard/case.

Thanks in advance!

What's nice about the 9.7" iPad is you can use Microsoft Office for free. On the 10.5" and up you have to pay. This company makes good keyboards. They've since been bought my Incipio, but my wife really liked hers on her iPad Mini. If they managed to make a usable keyboard on a small device, I imagine the larger keyboard would be fine: https://www.incipio.com/accessories...017-keyboard-cases/clamcase-pro-ipad-9-7.html If you want to use your iPad for a lot of productivity, the 10.5" is kinda nice but not necessary. You get a little more screen real estate, which I've appreciated for drawing and photo apps, but it's not a big difference. The 12.9" would be a lot better for productivity, but at that price you may as well consider a MBA or something unless you just really like the tablet form factor, which I get because I like it as well. Anyway, just some random thoughts, hope it helps.

I have both of these here with pencils. For what you describe, I suggest getting the regular iPad.

Background: I spent the past 2+ years of daily use with a 12.9 iPad Pro + Smart Keyboard + Pencil and switched to a 2018 iPad.

Based on what you've written, I recommend the 2018 iPad + Pencil + MoKo Pencil case + Smart Cover + Logitech Keys-to-Go portable keyboard. (which is what I use)

I dislike keyboard cases because it locks you in to using the iPad as a netbook. Cases are not meant to be attached and removed easily. They often add bulk and weight that makes the experience less than optimal.

But by using the Smart Cover, it is easy to use as a tablet, and the Keys-to-Go keyboard (slightly resembles the Smart Keyboard) allows for keyboard use on-the-go.

My 2018 iPad has replaced my journals and project notebooks. Very handy in meetings. Because of the 9.7 form factor I find myself taking it more places than I did with the 12.9 iPP.
