I've recently seen TV adds touting the iPad Pro as a computer replacement. With my Mac Pro I can attach a Time Machine, load from and send files to several types of memory devices. My dilemma. I want to take an iPad Pro when I'm dry camping where access to the cloud does not exist. No phone, no pool, no pets (line from a song for you younsters). Not even a WiFi signal. So how do I give some of my great pictures I will have on my iPad Pro to load onto their $%$#@ Microsoft PC? Until I can do that the iPad Pro is not a computer replacement setup.

With your lightning cable, your iPad will show up as a camera to the PC and you can import the photos. If it were a Mac, you could also Airdrop without an internet connection.

Don't buy into Apple Marketing The way I understood it was that the iPad Pro can Do More and Do things better than over 500 Million PCs on the Market with Slower Processors.

But from my own Perspective the iPad Pro 9.7 can do 95% of What I need a Laptop for and is better suited for Many tasks a Laptop simply can't do. Or do as well. Like enjoying Video in bed.

As Steve Jobs envisioned computers as Automobiles for Some Tasks you need A Garbage Truck, for Some an SUV for other tasks a F1 Race Car , for others a Motorcycle, and others a Police Car. Etc. Each vehicle is better at certain things.

My Phone that's a Daily Driver Car
My Laptop that's my SUV
My iPad Pro that's my Corvette
My Home PC that's my Garbage Truck

You know, I am going to tell you a secret that will ultimately solve your dilemma.
So you have a Mac Pro at home right? It requires AC power so it's not portable. But at least you can copy stuff to a drive right? But then you cannot just take a drive with you. You need a computer. Man that's a real problem.
But hey, I know a secret. It will blow your mind away. Apple didn't want you to know this. They keep talking about iPads.
Well, don't worry my friend. There is a way out.
If you go to Apple's website, don't be distracted with the iPhone or iPad. Focus. The secret is right out in the open.
Apple actually makes a.... wait for it, a laptop! There's one called a Macbook! It's light as well, and yes, it's a full computer, and runs MacOS just like your Mac Pro.
So my friend, there you go. Apple's best kept secret. They make these things called laptops. And they are pretty light as well! You can have the same OS as your Mac Pro. You can attach drives to it. Heck, the keyboard is built in! It's amazing isn't it.
You're welcome.

I have seen these and figured that would work in some cases. What I was hoping to do was put the files directly on a flash drive I could hand to my friends who all seem to have PCs. I have one of these made by Transcend. It works great.

I did not realize that a PC could see an iPad as a camera. Thanks for the rest info.

What I was looking for was the drawing capability of the iPad Pro. It is really great. I didn't want to have to carry around my laptop and the iPad, but I may have to if I need or want all the capability I'm looking for. I felt the Apple TV add was very misleading is some respects but not all.
