My first generation iPad Pro 12.9” drains by 50% overnight?

To be honest I never knew my how my iPad Pro lasted as I always put it back on its charger once I’m finish utilizing it.

However I’ve recently decided to charge my devices when it’s near 20% and I’ve noticed that (after a full charge) I’d wake up to my iPad Pro being at 65%-45% by the time I use it in the afternoon.

It seems to consume the same power when I’m using it and not using it. Do I really have to resort in sending my iPad Pro to Apple for a fix...?

This happened once with my 2017 12.9; it was the Food Network In The Kitchen app that killed the battery. It must have been playing an auto-run video or something because it never did that before nor since. As @joeblow7777 suggested, the battery stats should show you.

I would definitely check to see what Apps are running in the background.

Your iPad should not be dropping 50% charge overnight without anyone using it. That’s just all kinds of wrong...

I recently started having a similar issue with my 10.5" iPad Pro. You can view my entire thought process and troubleshooting steps here:

Reader's Digest version: I eventually ended up taking it to the Apple Store, they couldn't figure out what was wrong either, and finally swapped it out for another one. I did extensive troubleshooting first though. And Settings-->Battery was never helpful in this process. Yes, it tells you if an app you've used or had open in the background was using battery. But it's not going to tell you about rogue apps that are using battery when they shouldn't or rogue processes in iOS that are using battery when they shouldn't or even just hardware issues that are causing the battery to drain.

I figured the trip to the Apple Store would be a gamble--if they replaced it and it was software issue after all, I could end up having replaced my iPad for no reason once I start adding my apps and start having the same problem. But that did not turn out to be the case. I've been using my replacement daily and battery drain is back to normal.
