Each local dimming zone has 4 LEDs but it seems iPad Pro's mini-LED does not control individual LED instead of 4 LEDs at once. Is it not possible to control every single LED for better result especially reduce the blooming issue? Or maybe they lack technology to control each LED?

Yeah mini-LED is kind off a transition screen technology, because what you’re talking about is micro-LED. micro-LED are much smaller than mini-LED and are controlled individually, not with a local dimming zone, so it’s much closer to OLED than mini-LED regarding true blacks and contrast ratio (less blooming). Apple will probably get there in a few years but micro LED is a too expansive technology for now.

That said, 2500 dimming zones in a 13 inch display is a pretty big jump compared to other current mini-LED devices (including Apple’s own 6000$ Pro Display XDR, which has 600 dimming zones for a 32 inch display).

This is a limitation of the mini LED controller. Keep in mind this is first gen mini LED. I’d expect this to be improved the next year.

I'm impressed with it as is, but yeah it has some ways to go. Much better than traditional LED-LCD at this point but the tech should progress faster at this point.

Only OLED panels can do that.
