Got my dad an iPad for his 85th birthday a couple weeks ago, and he generally loves it.

The one problem he's had, and I couldn't figure out, is that it refuses to delete the junk mail he was getting from Staples. That is, in the mail app, when you tap delete, it chugs for a moment then pops up an error dialog saying (I can't remember the exact wording) that "Due to an error that email could not be deleted." And, indeed, it doesn't go anywhere. The rest of the email, so far as he's tried, deletes as expected.

I did see this for myself, so it's not that he's doing something weird. I double-checked that the mail is being collected using POP, not IMAP, so it's not an IMAP error like I'd first expected, either. The only thing I can think of that would make these Staples mails different from anything else is that they're HTML (may also include attached images; didn't check).

I've already unsubscribed him from the mailings, which is an easy enough workaround, but I'm rather curious to see if anybody else has seen this issue or has any suggestions about what might be going on.
