At Panera they are using their Panera iPads/devices which are locked into their menus

You can bring your own and even order food with the App before you get there.

I flew via Newark Airport, and their bars have a "self-service" model where you tap your drink order on iPads on the bar.

Quite near, in a nerdy sort of way.
