Hello folks

Purchased my iPad two weeks ago, got it replaced last Wednesday due to dead pixels and my new one has a fair bit of light bleed and a speck of aliminium dust under the screen in the corner. I'm not very happy and just want to get my money back now. I'm not prepared to spend £500 for an item of poor quality.

When I returned my first one, they had to refund the original on to an iTunes card then use the card to pay for the second one - don't ask why. The receipt shows no refund for iTunes Card.

My questions are this:

1. Will i have any problems asking for a refund?
2. If they state its not faulty, am I still able to return within the 14 days even if it's been used and will there be a restocking fee?
3. Should I have a problem getting my cash back because it was technically purchased using an iTunes card?

Thanks for the help.

Shouldn't but it depends if your within the two weeks period, if you are Then their isn't a restocking fee in the UK, you get full money back. They refund in the same form of cash paid. Aka credit or cash, in your case iTunes card.

Best to ring up, you should be able to get it replaced under warranty if your out of the returns window.

Aaah right. Cheers.

I have my original receipt anyway and its because of their stupid computers they had to put it on an iTunes - not really my fault. And I'm still within my 14 day period.

If anyone else can shed some light on the above I'd be grateful.

My replacement was given last Wednesday and it was a retail unit, the receipt says return date = 16th July. I was just worried about restocking fee if it was open. There isnt a single mark on it as I keep my products in pristine condition.

So I should be OK regardless of whether there is a fault?

Should be kk, I opened my iPad, used it for a bit then returned it for a better model. They don't care if you open it, you don't have to necessarilly point out the problems anyways, just say you want to return it, you don't have to give a reason.

They should give your money in whatever form it was paid for, in my case on my card, which means theirs a bit of a delay about how long the money takes to process.

Their is no restocking fee in the UK, that's a US fee.

I replaced 3 iPads due to simular problems, and they did the gift card thing like you mentioned.

I am now on my 4th iPad and its perfect! the store were really helpful and I know i was being a bit picky... with the 3rd one at least. However the store has been spot on. Really helpful and appreciate it. Not many companies would do that.

Yeah I've had excellent customer service so far - but i've never asked for my money back before.

I would give it another go man, you might get a much better screen this time. When you get one with no irritations youl love the thing. Its absolutely amazing and now that i have nothing bothering me on the screen theres nothing that bugs me while using it :D

So after getting my money back the other day I decided I still wanted one. So I went back as new stock had arrived - dust under the screen - AGAIN. My wife took it back for me and got it replaced as i wasnt too well - 7 blatent dead pixels, 1 stuck pixel and two clear specs of dust right in the middle of the screen.

How can manufacturers of cheap £200 netbooks manage to avoid these problems and yet a premium product manufacturer such as Apple cant even sort it out. Ridiculous!

That was my last attempt - I'm getting my money back!

You must have really bad luck, two ipads for me 16gb then upgraded to 32gb, both are great.

iPad dilemma

Hi guys, really want some advice here.

I reserved a wifi 32 and a wifi 3g.

I really want the 3g but decided to get the 32 if i couldnt get a 3g.

apple emailed this morning saying i could pick up the 32 wifi tomorrow if i liked.

this is all well and good and i'm thinking of getting the 32 wifi and returning it if i think i need the 3g when they email me that they have 3gs in stock HOWEVER if i do that and want to trade it will they charge me the difference or have to refund me then charge for the 3g? (so will they charge me £100 or refund me £499 then charge me £599?).. this is important as i only have £600 or so in my back account and so if they do the latter obviously I won't have the funds to buy it but if they have the former then I can go through with that.

When I swapped from a 16gb to a 32gb they wanted to refund my card then recharge me, I was in the same situation as you. The managed refunded my iPad onto a gift card to get round this and then used it towards the new iPad and paid the difference bolt then.

you think i should do it?

I can not make that decision for you sorry. The only thing I will say is have you looked into the MiFi from Three Mobile? It is only £50 and creates a 3G wifi network, would save you money and not to much hassle to use.

Both times they refunded on to a gift card then used it to purchase the new one.

I didnt get the 3g because i could tether to my iPhone which would save me £100 up front plus £15 a month. You could always get yourself a mywi thingy.

I dont intend to jailbreak my iphone 4 and less so use up all the battery power on it... and mywi has like a 5 hour battery life doesn't it?

I said Three Mobiles MiFi not the jail broken app called MyWi.

Google Three MiFi and take a look at it.

Yeah I meant a mifi thingy.

besides - I'm not having to worry about all this now. As of tomorrow I'll be iPad-less

I would avoid picking up the wifi model. If your paying by card, the transfer of money is quite slow, especially returning the money, takes a while. If you must, then at least pay by cash. (you get cash back, which is faster than credit to your bank account).

Going ton have to buy it outright, return for money, then buy another. I'd avoid the gift cards if possible.
