Considering how sales have been declining for like 3 years and how Apple released their lowest cost iPad and a new, really nice, top of the line iPad Pro both in this quarter.... if Apple didn’t see sales increase by a significant margin it would have absolutely spelled major doom for iPads.

iPad sales have been flat or falling for a while. I reckon a new $329 iPad will boost sales or at least minimize the sales decline more than an upgraded $399 iPad will.

I think the iPad hardware sells itself, it's iOS 11 that will be the significant game change when September arrives. But nonetheless, the latest iPad Pro's are top notch.

I thought this as well. I know a lot of schools had iPad 2's so I thought the iPad 2017 at it's price might push those using iPad 2's in schools to update. Just a guess on my part.

I went from a mini 2 to a 10.5, I'm not sure what they would have to release for me to consider upgrading in the next 4 years now.

I bought a Pro 10.5 after trying iOS 11 on my older iPad.

It's a stunning device hardware wise and iOS 11 makes it a viable laptop replacement (which I was considering anyway).

The only thing I can't do is BitTorrent and run a Plex server but my old laptop is still easily up to that task.

Exactly. Despite my iPad Air 2 working just fine, I am going to buy either the 10.5 or even more likely the 12.9 Pro and Pencil because of the higher refresh screen. iOS 11 is part of the reason I'm willing to buy a new iPad.

I would bet people other than enthusiasts are going longer without upgrading their iPads because anything from Air 2 onwards still performs great. Apple will need to keep innovating beyond faster hardware to keep it up and I hope they can come up with more great features in iOS 12.
