Not sure if anyone else has come across this, the Apple Store via phone swears they haven't seen it.

I have an ipad 3g, 32gb and when the screen is on, but displaying black in a particular area I have a blueish orb , like the screen is defective.. I have some pictures but they aren't great, if anyone has any photography tips on how to shoot the occoruance better, let me know:

On the 2nd pic it's in the bottom right hand , just off the corner a bit..

It is way more noticeable in person, and most noticeable when launching apps, or using the photos app or bloomberg which has a dark UI.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Reasonable suggestion, except when you factor in the absence of any replacements due to supply / demand..

True, I would probably start out w/ the AppleCare phone number, and have them call ahead to make sure one is in stock. You'll be fine in the meantime. Until then, courage :)

I have seen this...

FYI,

This is exactly what is exhibited on my wife's iPad I had replaced. Difference being it only occurred on video freezes. When iPad froze up on video, those blue dots appeared randomly across the entire screen.

Hardware issue- get it replaced.

Tigres, thanks! Hopefully I can get it documented in their system for a swap out whenever a unit becomes available but not have to forfeit my iPad until then..

They have replacement units in the store for this. They swap it out from a special (brown box) unit that contains only iPad, no other items- (I must believe they are new).

That is what they did for me, even though they were out of stock for new units.:)

The tech was cool , he was saying he didn't see it , which in all those lights in the Apple Store it makes sense, so I kneeled down <--no jokes please, and held it under the table so he could see it in low ambient.. He noticed it right away and swapped it for a brand new one..

Yay!
