We have 2 iPads. Mine has a screen protector with a mic hole, the little hole on the front of the iPad on opposite side of home button.
I have no issue talking and being heard when making a phone call on my iPad.

My wife has a 6th gen iPad and she is constantly being told when she uses it as a phone, that she can't be heard on the other end. I looked and noticed that her screen protector has no mic hole.

Today, I received a new screen protector in the mail for her iPad, but noted it too does not have a mic hole either, and I've noticed online that some iPad screen protectors do have the mic hole. So I'm in the process of returning it and ordering a brand that does have a mic hole. Unfortunately I really can't experiment with a new screen protector without rendering it unreturnable.

It may be a little late to ask, but I'm assuming the mic hole in the screen protector does make a difference on how easy it is for others to hear you when using the mic on your iPad? Of possible interest, when I use "mic hole" as a search criteria, there are no brands that specifically advertise this, but as previously mentioned I found one that clearly has a hole in the picture for the mic.
Thanks!

There are no microphones on the front. You may not even notice because they’re pin holes. The rear one is typically used for background noise cancelation.

Your wife may be inadvertently covering or otherwise blocking/deflecting her voice from it/them.

Thank you. I stand corrected. The little hole on the front of my wife's iPad opposite the home button is the FaceTime camera. ?I looked around the edges of it and I don't see where the mic is, looking for a pin hole. This is a 6th get iPad.

I wasn’t trying to be snarky, condescending.

Anywho...

In the photo I posted earlier, the mic holes are the tiny, black specks the yellow arrows are pointing at.

Here’s another photo.

One microphone hole is above the FaceTime camera in the center of the top edge. The other is at the top-center of the rear of the iPad.
