So I will admit, when it comes to troubleshooting and repairing, I am not that handy. My son has an iPad mini 2 retina in which he dropped. I attached a photo. I am assuming a simple glass replacement won't fix this, correct? And that the LCD screen would need to be replaced as well? The screen flickers, so I am assuming the LCD itself is broke, which means it wouldn't even pay for me to fix this. Would just like clarification.

Sorry for my ignorance in this. I hope someone can answer me.

Thanks :)

The screen is heavily damaged and the entire display assembly (including the glass) would need to be replaced to restore it to original functionality.

It doesn't sound like you are a candidate to do the work yourself.

Of course, Apple could do the work for you although they will charge top dollar.

However, there are third-party repair services that can perform the work just like auto repair shops or watch repair shops.

Type in something like "iPhone repair near [your town]" into a search engine like Google (or perhaps Yelp in this case) to locate nearby businesses that offer this service. I would look for an Apple Authorized Service Center that provides free repair estimates.

That said the iPad mini 2 retina is a rather old model and presumably the screen repair costs would be more than an intact unit is currently worth.

It would be more cost effective to replace the device, perhaps with a refurbished unit from the Apple online store if you wish to save a few dollars.

To summarize, your next course of action would be to get a free quote from a reliable repair shop before you decide how to proceed.

Best of luck.
