Just ordered my iPad and noticed that they have pictures where they identified the button above the volume control as a screen rotation lock. Is this new? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere before.

Can you post a link to these pics?

EDIT: Just found what you were talking about,

http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

I always thought that was going to be a mute button like on the iphone, but apparently its a screen rotation lock. I like that feature since I've had alot of trouble trying to use my iphone laying down on my side and the screen rotating back and forth. Also, since its not a phone the mute button would not be as important. Good design decision Apple!

I thought it was a "Mute" button to turn off all sounds, at least that's what I though it said in the tech specs?

I thought so too at first. A quick Google search shows nothing about this feature. I'd rather have the rotation lock than a mute, though. You can always just lower the volume, but trying to read on your side while in bed is annoying if the screen flips on you.

I read about people mentioning not having this in another thread, and I was surprised you couldn't do this. Seemed like a must have to me.

Good to know it is there after all.
