I just bought an iPad 6 as I am under the impression that it is the oldest, cheapest thing that can use an iPad pencil, but setup is driving me nuts. It keeps on asking to be connected to a Mac or a PC with iTunes installed. My Mac is ancient and won’t start and my PC is down and will take over a day to get it up and running iTunes. I have an iPhone 13promax, and it sucessfully links to that, but then asks me to plug into a PC or Mac anyway. I tried “setup without any other devices” but it STILL wants me to plug into a Mac or PC. I’m going a bit nutty here. Do I need to go to a Genius Bar to get this sorted (if that will even do it)?

Got it fixed. The thing is wifi only. No cellular. Bottom end iPad 6. Will in theory use an Apple Pencil v1. Coming eventually.
