Hi there,

I just bought iPad 2018 and a smart case. I would love to cover the back of the iPad, but unfortunately Apple doesn't make such thing anymore (for 2017/18 models). Is there any (slim) cover, that would fit iPad and Apple's smart cover? I don't want to change cover, just add protection for the back of the device :(

I bought a Luvvitt soft gel clear back cover from amazon for less than 12 dollars. It is grippy and the smart cover fits perfectly with it.
 
I just found that out today when I purchased the 2018 model. The Apple cover my wife has on her Air 2 covers the back and I just assumed mine would too... surprise! I may take mine back and look for something else because I use mine in harsher environments where I’m not so sure the finish will hold up that well.
 
I prefer thin so I went with a dragon skin wrap from dbrand. Gives my iPad Pro a little more grip and provides the back some wear protection. I’m not one to drop my devices and I have insurance if I do.

I feel it adds a little weight to my ipad (the reason I got it was to reeuce the weight of my backpack) somtime will tell if I keep it...

Totally agree. I have an Apple leather case for my iPhone 8 and of they made something exactly like that, but Smart Cover compatible, for the iPad Pro I’d be very happy.
