iPad iPad SmartCover ID

I picked one of these up for at a garage sale for 55 cents for my iPad Air 1 and it does not fit. It is an official Apple Branded one. My question is, what iPad is this thing supposed to fit? I got it a while ago, before the iPad Pro so does it fit an iPad Air 2 or an iPad 4? There is no ID / or Apple number on it to research it (unless I am missing it).

This Smart Case is for the iPad Air 2. The Smart Case for the iPad 2/3/4 only came in polyurethane. There is currently no Smart Case for the iPad Pro.

You can see from just the connector cavity size that it must be for a device with Lightning port. That would exclude a bunch of older models too.

The air 2 is thinner; and no rotation/sound switch above the volume buttons.
