Hello folks, hope you're all enjoying your ipads. For some reason when I open an extras page in safari, the cursed goes to the safari text field. Can someone please tell me how to change that, thanks!

I don't quite understand what you mean?

Are you saying that when you open a new page in Safari the default text entry selection is on the Google search bar and not theURL bar? If so, that is a bit annoying.

regardless - Google Search does not seem to appear in OS 4.0 - so this fall, problem solved either way

Hey, yes this is exactly what I mean. I am sure it wasn't like this a couple days ago but I might be wrong. Can more people please confirm that this is normal behavior if the safari app when opening another tab. Tia!

It's normal. I'm on my fourth iPad and it hasn't changed.

Cool thanks for the update. I am not to sure why this is like is. It doesn't make much sense to me. I hope apple changes this implementation.

Fourth? Why? And to the op, this is normal...many of us wish they would make an option of selecting the search bar or URL bar, when opening safari...it's quite annoying!

No. Safari on iPhone OS 4.0 can still search Google, they just changed the return button on the keyboard to read "Search" instead of "Google". Perhaps Google (or Yahoo!) didn't like its name being used as a verb on that key?

I think Apple assumes that if you are opening another tab you are searching or using a bookmark. In practical use, you search or use a bookmark, rarely typing in a URL. But most power users might feel different.
