I signed up for Lightroom free version, on my ipad pro. I liked it so well I then signed up for the full Lightroom to get more editing tools. Then I see it loaded in all my Apple Photos. I only have a little less than 500 right now but adding to them all the time. So are they taking up icloud storage for both the same photos in Lightroom and in Apple Photos? In other words do I now have double storage with same photos in Apple Photo and Lightroom?

Are you talking about your photos from Apple Photos showing up in the Lightroom app to select to edit? I'm pretty sure that itself shouldn't take up extra iCloud space. I think the case it would take up more space is if you save the Lightroom file separately to iCloud Drive and then re-save the edited photo to Apple Photos.
